This feature of iPhone 15 Pro will certainly turn heads
As the release date of the iPhone 15 series approaches, new information about this series continues to come in.
Apple is anticipated to launch the successor to the iPhone 14 series, the iPhone 15 series, this coming September. Buzzing with leaks and rumors, the next-generation models are expected to feature dynamic islands across all devices, enhanced battery life, and a transition to a USB-C port. Notably, a closer look at the fourth beta of iOS 17 code has shed light on some intriguing features.
Over the past 16 years, Apple has consistently employed a traditional Mute switch on its iPhone models. However, speculation is rife that this staple feature might be replaced with a customizable button, dubbed the 'Action' button. The Action button is already present on the Apple Watch Ultra, and leaked images of iPhone 15 Pro Max cases hint at a smaller cutout for this button, in comparison to the Mute switch's cutout.

A recent delve into the iOS 17 code beta release revealed nine potential use cases for the Action button. These usage possibilities add significant versatility to the device, allowing users to tailor their iPhone experience according to their needs. The Action button could provide quick access to accessibility features like VoiceOver, Assistive Touch, and Zoom. It could also be used to access user-created shortcuts, switch all sounds on or off via a single tap, launch the camera app and capture a photo or video with just one press. Other possible functionalities include activating or deactivating Focus mode, controlling the flashlight, triggering the Magnifier app, and launching the Translate app to start a conversation or translate text with a single press. The Action button might even be used to initiate or terminate a voice memo recording.
The implementation of these nine functions with a single tap on the Action button could offer a more user-friendly approach compared to the traditional Mute switch. It's worth noting that it is still uncertain whether Apple will introduce the Action button only on the Pro variants or make it a standard feature on all models.
