Tecno is taking the mobile world by storm with its upcoming release, the Tecno Phantom V Flip. Historically, flip phones were seen as luxury items reserved for the affluent. Now, Tecno is revolutionizing this perception by introducing a flip phone that doesn't break the bank. Scheduled for unveiling on September 22, 2023, the Phantom V Flip is designed for those who adore the flip style but at an affordable price.

In terms of design, Tecno is adopting the popular book fold design with a unique touch. The Phantom V Flip has an innovative round cover display accompanied by a large ring, which houses the camera setup. This innovative design means that the cover display and the camera island are seamlessly integrated. The leaked details suggest that the cover display will be a 1.32-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 466 x 466. Inside, the phone showcases a tall 6.9-inch flexible AMOLED display offering a 1080 x 2460 pixel resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone's layout also includes the volume and power buttons on the right side of the upper panel. Additionally, there's a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button for ease of access.

To remain budget-friendly, Tecno has made a few compromises, particularly concerning its performance. The Phantom V Flip is believed to be powered by a mid-range Dimensity 8050 SoC. This processor, for the uninitiated, is a rebranded version of the Dimensity 1300 SoC, developed using TSMC’s N6 (6nm) technology. This octa-core processor boasts four Cortex-A78 cores and four energy-saving Cortex-A55 cores. The phone's graphic needs are catered to by the Arm Mali-G77 with nine cores. Devices such as the Realme 12 Pro series also utilize this chip, suggesting the Phantom V Flip will deliver comparable performance. It's anticipated that the phone will come with 8 GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Moreover, the Phantom V Flip is set to run on HIOS based on Android 13, and a 4,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging support is also expected.

Camera enthusiasts will appreciate the simplicity of the Phantom V Flip's setup. It's likely to sport a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a ring LED light. A 32MP camera will be housed at the front in a centered punch hole. It remains to be seen whether the primary camera can double up as a selfie shooter when the device is folded.

As for the global launch, it's scheduled for September 22 at 3 PM SGT. While Tecno hasn't released official pricing, industry insiders estimate the smartphone will be priced between $600-$660. Available color variants are expected to be Minimal Black, Film White, and Periwinkle Purple.
