OnePlus, a leading name in the smartphone industry, has initiated the rollout of its latest OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. This marks a new milestone for these flagship models that were first introduced to the market back in April 2020.

The new OxygenOS 13.1.0.581 update is considered an incremental advancement, bringing along several minor improvements to the devices. Among these enhancements, the July 2023 security patch is the most notable one, ensuring a higher level of security for these older phones. Furthermore, this update enhances the stability of the devices and widens the compatibility of the NFC function.

As of now, this update seems to be exclusively distributed in the Indian market. OnePlus has shared a tip for users encountering bugs or any other issues during the update process. Users can navigate to the Google Dialer and type in “*#800#”, which will provide access to a menu where they can report any problems experienced.

In terms of device specifics, both OnePlus 8 models were originally equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and ran on Android 10 OS based OxygenOS 10 straight out of the box. The high-end OnePlus 8 Pro model is complemented by a tall 6.78 inch Fluid AMOLED display and a 48-megapixel triple camera setup, while the base variant sports a slightly smaller 6.55 inch Fluid AMOLED display with the same triple camera configuration. Earlier in the week, OnePlus also released a similar OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 9R.
