The Nothing Phone (2) was released last month and boasted significant enhancements in both hardware and software. The device was launched with the new Nothing OS 2.0, which introduced innovative features for the Glyph Interface and offered customizable ringtones. Today, the company has elevated the software experience on the Phone (2) further by rolling out the Nothing OS 2.0.2 update.

The latest update, Nothing OS 2.0.2, is currently being dispatched to Phone (2) users. It not only offers several improvements in the camera and software departments but also includes the security patch for July 2023.

The changelog suggests that the update will increase the clarity of photos in 50MP mode and enhance performance in low-light photography. It also promises improved contrast and Bokeh effect for Portrait Mode photography, and users will notice better facial clarity in Portrait Mode as well.

The update brings numerous refinements for the front and rear cameras. The front camera benefits from enhanced photo clarity, better quality in low-light conditions, and faster HDR processing speed. For the rear camera, the update brings enhanced photo clarity in 50 MP Mode, optimized stability and contrast for video recording, improved photo quality in low-light conditions, and improved contrast and Bokeh effect for Portrait Mode. Furthermore, the clarity of faces in Portrait Mode has been optimized, and HDR processing speed has been enhanced.

In terms of new features, the update introduces a mechanism to shut down apps when the device reaches its temperature limit, it refines the visual for when the device runs out of battery and switches off, and adds distinct icons for each of the Nothing audio products to volume control. The update also includes Google’s July security patch.

Improvements in the update also involve refined haptic feedback strength when typing, improved responsiveness of the touch panel under certain conditions, improved reliability of the network for multiple global carriers, and enhanced performance of some games when played in HDR. The system stability has been improved as well.

Lastly, the update provides solutions to several issues. It has fixed issues with Dirac Audio, resolved a problem affecting Google Wallet functioning in cloned apps, fixed an issue that sometimes caused 'double tap to wake' to be unresponsive, resolved a problem causing the Bluetooth Quick Settings tile to be unresponsive at times, and carried out other general bug fixes.
