The latest information about Google Pixel 8 Pro has everyone buzzing
Google's soon-to-be-launched flagship, the Pixel 8 Pro, continues to make headlines almost daily.
Google is gearing up for the global launch of its Pixel 8 series smartphones on October 4th. As has been the trend, several details about these devices, from their appearance and capabilities to their pricing, have been revealed through leaks. This article focuses on consolidating all available information on the Pixel 8 Pro.
Starting with its design, the Pixel 8 Pro promises subtle refinements compared to the Pixel 7 Pro. While retaining the characteristic camera visor, this newer model is expected to have a larger cutout to accommodate the triple back cameras. An interesting addition is a thermometer, discreetly placed in the top right corner. In terms of build materials, the phone is anticipated to maintain its premium aluminum and glass combination, complemented by a matte finish and gentler curves.
Moving to the front, the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to house a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display, boasting a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels. It offers an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1-120Hz and can achieve a luminosity of up to 2,400 nits. This vibrant display is safeguarded by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Additionally, the device's durability is further enhanced with an IP68 waterproof rating. It's projected to have dimensions of 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm and weigh 213 grams.

Delving deeper into the device's performance, the Pixel 8 Pro will be powered by the new Tensor G3 SoC. This chip is speculated to be influenced by Samsung’s Exynos 2300 SoC and crafted using Samsung’s advanced 3nm technology. This not only ensures a more efficient operation but, courtesy of its FO-WLP packaging, also maintains cooler temperatures. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that, as per leaked data, the device's performance metrics on Geekbench 5 stand at a single-core score of 1186 and a multicore score of 3809.
In terms of memory and storage, the Pixel 8 Pro will be equipped with 12GB RAM. Storage capacities are reported to go up to 1TB for the US market and 512GB for other regions. Powering the device will be a robust 5,050mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging and 23W Qi-wireless charging. Connectivity features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC, with the added security of a Titan M2 chip. Notably, the phone will ship with Android 14 and is set to receive five major OS updates, coupled with seven years of consistent security patches.
