As the launch of Apple's iPhone 15 series draws near, information about the much-anticipated smartphone lineup is flooding the media. In a recent turn of events, it appears that Apple has managed to overcome initial production issues associated with the displays for the iPhone 15 lineup. This means the release is on track, quashing any rumors of delay.

Apple is renowned for sticking to its traditions, often making their annual roadmap somewhat predictable. Nevertheless, they still manage to surprise. Historically, the standard iPhone and Pro series were virtually indistinguishable, except for camera configuration and size. However, the company has recently introduced a design difference between the two series in both processor and design aspects.

With the introduction of the iPhone 14, a design featuring a notch was featured, while the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max were released with the Dynamic Island feature. This change left many users feeling as if they were looking at two different generations of phones. Fortunately, Apple didn't stick to this approach for long. According to recent information, the Dynamic Island feature will be employed in all models this year, although this has caused some unique issues.

Reports in March 2023 suggested Apple was struggling with the production of the screens for the upcoming iPhone 15 series, raising concerns among those planning to purchase a new phone. Fortunately, these issues seem to have been short-lived. Apple is said to have addressed the early production problems for the iPhone 15 series, thanks in part to collaborations with competitors like Samsung and LG for production.

It was reported that LG Display was the manufacturer encountering issues. The problems primarily centered around the creation of the holes for the selfie camera and the Face ID. Following the cutting of these parts on the OLED screens, a certain kind of dark spots would appear. Users familiar with OLED phones know that these spots can expand and, in a short period, potentially render the screen useless. Fortunately, this issue has been resolved with LG creating an isolated area where the cutting process would take place, preventing the cut-induced damage from spreading to the entire screen.

On the downside, there is a reason why Apple has historically not made changes every year, and that is due to cost. Despite this, the company will include the Dynamic Island feature in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models to preserve its premium feel and will also adopt a USB-C port instead of Lightning to comply with the European Union. This means that the production costs are set to increase substantially. If the rumors are correct, the price of the new models could increase by at least $100.
