The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be more expensive than its predecessor
As iPhone enthusiasts start counting down to the new models, rumors that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be sold at a higher price than its predecessor have stirred the pot.
The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max from Apple is stirring excitement among tech enthusiasts, partly because of its rumored high price tag. Tech analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities has suggested that this model may cost more than its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which starts at $1,099.
The precise reasons behind this potential price hike are not explicitly stated. However, speculation points towards the advanced features this device is rumored to incorporate. One notable feature is a periscope lens, a significant upgrade from the 3x zoom functionality found on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This new lens is expected to allow 5x to 6x optical zoom, promising enhanced photography experiences for users.

Explaining a little more about the technology, a periscope lens system typically uses a primary lens to capture the image, which is then reflected 90 degrees by an angled mirror or prism towards a secondary lens. This lens, in turn, directs the light to the image sensor. This unique setup needs extra room in the smartphone due to the sideways positioning of the image sensor and the secondary lens, which might be a factor in the increase in price.
It's predicted by Pu that mass production for the iPhone 15 series will start in August, in line with Apple's usual release pattern. This would hint at an official announcement in September. Also, he anticipates that Apple will produce around 84 million units of the iPhone 15 series in the latter half of 2023, with the Pro models likely to attract the most interest in the first few months post-launch.
In terms of design, rumors suggest that all four models of the iPhone 15 series, including the Pro Max variant, will sport a USB-C port, the Dynamic Island, and a slightly more curved frame. On top of this, the Pro models are believed to offer an additional 12 features and improvements.
