The Honor 90 5G series has started counting down for its European debut
Introduced in China a while ago, the Honor 90 5G series will soon be unveiled to smartphone enthusiasts in Europe.
On July 6, Honor is set to unveil its Honor 90 series smartphones for the global markets at a launch event in Paris. The highlight of the event will be the debut of two highly-anticipated devices, the Honor 90 5G, and the Honor 90 Pro. A teaser from the brand has suggested that the Honor 90 5G will be equipped with an "enhanced display."
While the teaser suggests the device might have a curved display and rounded edges, it does not disclose any specific details about the display itself. However, given that the device has already been introduced in China, we have ample information to provide a comprehensive overview.
The Honor 90 5G is endowed with a 6.7-inch OLED display that provides an FHD+ resolution of 2664×1200 pixels. It supports a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz and is capable of achieving a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The display is also notable for its broad color gamut, which can render up to 1.07 billion colors. Moreover, it features a world-first: the use of 3,840Hz PWM dimming.

PWM dimming, or Pulse-Width Modulation dimming, reduces flicker and eye strain, offering several eye-related benefits. The technology helps combat the flickering caused by quick on-off switching of the backlight, which can cause discomfort or eye strain in some individuals. High-frequency PWM dimming reduces or eliminates this flicker, delivering a more comfortable viewing experience. Furthermore, PWM dimming allows for precise control over brightness levels, helping reduce eye fatigue from excessively bright or dim screen settings.
Beyond its impressive display, the Honor 90 5G will also host a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device will house a 5000mAh battery supporting 66W fast charging through a USB Type-C 2.0 port.
Photography-wise, the Honor 90 is equipped with a 200MP primary camera, complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth-of-field sensor. While it doesn't include Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), it does support Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). Additionally, it features a 50MP front camera for taking high-resolution selfies.
