Significant details about Google's foldable phone are here
There has been long-standing speculation about when and how Google would enter the foldable phone market, and now new information about this device is available.
Despite the recent launch of Google's inaugural foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, murmurs suggest that the tech giant is already charting its next move in the foldable market. A recent deep dive by 9to5Google into the Google Pixel Buds app unveiled hints of a device codenamed “Comet.” Speculation is rife, suggesting this could either be a direct successor to the Pixel Fold or a fresh introduction, potentially a clamshell foldable phone.
Interestingly, the "Comet" codename deviates from Google's conventional nomenclature for Pixel phones. A glance back reveals the Pixel Fold, originally dubbed "Passport," which later transitioned to "Felix" to signify its Tensor G2 chip synchronization with the Pixel 7 series.

Similarly, names like “Komodo” and “Caiman” are in line for the Pixel 9 series, drawing from reptilian inspirations. In contrast, the forthcoming Pixel 8 series appears to find inspiration from canine breeds, with codenames “Shiba” for the Pixel 8 and “Husky” for its Pro counterpart.
Delving further, 9to5Google's probe into the Pixel Buds app's code associates "Comet" closely with the Pixel Fold, even labeling it a “fold” within the app's context. This strengthens the belief that Comet might indeed be a foldable entity. Given that the Pixel Fold made its debut in May 2023, some might argue it's too soon for a successor. However, if whispers hold weight, this might be Google's foray into the clamshell foldable territory, something it has allegedly contemplated before.
