Short supply alert: iPhone 15 series set for limited release in this country
iPhone 15 series set for a limited release in this country, raising concerns among eager customers and industry experts alike.
The highly anticipated iPhone 15 series is set to make its debut in Korea on October 13th, but there are growing concerns among experts about potential shortages of certain models.
Short supply alert: iPhone 15 series set for limited release in this country
These concerns stem from a shortage of the iPhone 15 series in countries where it has already launched, such as China and Japan. In China, for instance, the expected shipment date for the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been pushed back to November due to supply constraints.
Industry experts are predicting that the shortages may primarily impact the top-tier models of the iPhone 15 series in Korea. They point to a previous shortage of top models, particularly the Pro model, during the iPhone 14 launch. Moreover, considering the iPhone's immense popularity among the MZ generation, there's a strong likelihood of heightened demand for the iPhone 15 series, especially for the top-tier variants.
Korean distributors are taking proactive measures to address this potential issue. An employee from a Korean Telecom company disclosed, "We are currently accepting provisional reservations for the iPhone 15 series to gauge and assess the demand before initiating pre-orders, and we've already seen a surge in reservations compared to the iPhone 14 series."
Similarly, an employee at SK Telecom noted, "I've noticed a substantial interest in the iPhone 15 series, especially due to its USB-C type compatibility."
It's worth noting that last year, Korea experienced a shortage of the iPhone 14 Pro that persisted for several weeks. Even online sales through the Apple Korea website resulted in consumers waiting for over a month to receive their iPhone 14 Pro units. The industry will closely watch how these potential shortages affect the iPhone 15 series launch in Korea.
