Samsung's latest product, the Galaxy SmartTag 2, is making waves with its newly announced features and improvements. Recently, the device earned all necessary certifications, including a Bluetooth SIG certification last month. This certification confirmed that the SmartTag 2 supports Bluetooth 5.3, an upgrade from the previous model's Bluetooth 5.2, offering enhancements in power consumption, device performance, and user experience.

The Galaxy SmartTag 2, identified by the model number EI-T5600, also surfaced in an FCC application after it was first noticed in the Bluetooth database. This stoked anticipation for its official release.

Samsung has taken a fresh design approach for the Galaxy SmartTag 2. The new model now comes in an oblong shape, contrasting with the original SmartTag's rectangular shape. The SmartTag 2 also has a larger hole for keyrings, but the exact dimensions remain unknown due to the lack of reference points in the image that was released.

Information from the FCC application indicates that the SmartTag 2 includes Bluetooth LE and UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) connectivity. This is an interesting update as the original SmartTag was available in two models, but only the SmartTag+ offered UWB connectivity. The lack of any mention of a “Plus” variant in the FCC application suggests that there might only be one next-generation model that supports both Bluetooth and UWB.

The SmartTag 2 name doesn't include a “2” in its print, it was only referred to as such in the FCC application. The new device also promises to deliver better wireless range, more robust security, and an extended battery life compared to its predecessor.

Even with all these updates, Samsung has not announced a release date for the Galaxy SmartTag 2, and it was not introduced at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event. However, these recent certifications and updates hint at a potential early 2024 launch.
