Previously, Samsung has partnered with AMD to develop the Xclipse 920 GPU for its Exynos 2200 system-on-a-chip (SoC), which has been a significant milestone for the company. As a result, Samsung is now reportedly planning to develop its own custom GPU for its mobile devices, following the success of its collaboration with AMD.
The decision to develop a custom GPU for its mobile lineup can enable Samsung to have more control over its devices' performance and features, which could help it to compete with rivals such as Apple and Qualcomm.

It may take Samsung at least three years to develop its custom GPU for smartphones, which could put the company behind its competitors such as Apple and Qualcomm in the smartphone market.
Samsung has had a history of facing difficulties in releasing smartphone chipsets, so if the custom GPU does not perform as expected, the company may delay its release further.
