Today an important name Canalys released a joint report that focuses on smartphone share numbers from October to December of last year as well as performance throughout the entire year. The smartphone market has been going through some hard time for a while with shipment issues and crisis all over the world. The Android leader Samsung and Apple are the names that come up front compared to others.

Shipments for the entire year decreased by 11% to less than 1.2 billion. As is customary, Apple prevailed in the fourth quarter in terms of market share thanks to the release of its most recent iPhones; however, this time around, it achieved its highest ever market share: 25%. With 20% of the market, Samsung came in second, followed by Xiaomi with 11%, Oppo with 10%, and Vivo with 8%.

The "Others" category accounted for 26% of sales. Apple's share increased by 2%, Samsung's and Oppo's by 1%, vivo's share remained unchanged, and Xiaomi's share decreased by 2% in comparison to Q4 of 2021. According to reports, Xiaomi's decline is "largely due to challenges in India." With 22% of the market for the entire year, Samsung dominated, followed by Apple with 19% and Xiaomi with 13%. Vivo and Oppo each held 9% of the market. Oppo lost 2%, Xiaomi and vivo are down 1%, and Samsung and Apple gained 2 percentage points in share in comparison to 2021.
