Samsung might bring back Exynos for upcoming Galaxy smartphones
Samsung has confirmed that its Exynos chipset will be returning to its Galaxy S line devices.
Samsung, one of the world's leading smartphone manufacturers, has been facing performance-related problems with its Exynos SoC and as a result, stopped using it in its Galaxy S23 series. However, recent reports suggest that Samsung may be making a comeback with the Exynos SoCs and plans to use them in its upcoming Galaxy series. This move marks a significant shift in Samsung's strategy as it seeks to regain control and reduce its reliance on external suppliers such as Qualcomm.
Samsung confirms the possible return of Exynos SoCs in its flagship Galaxy smartphone series
Samsung Electronics has announced that it intends to reintroduce its Exynos chipset to its flagship Galaxy S series of smartphones. The statement was made by Hyeokman Kwon, the Vice President of the DS Division at Samsung LSI, during the company's Q1 2023 earnings call. Kwon mentioned that Samsung is actively pursuing the return of the Exynos chipset to the flagship Galaxy series.
Although Kwon did not mention the specific Exynos chipset that Samsung plans to use in its Galaxy S series, reports suggest that the Exynos 2400 chipset is the most likely candidate as it is the only high-end chipset currently being developed by Samsung.
However, there are also rumors that Samsung may opt for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra models, while using the Exynos 2400 only in the standard Galaxy S24 variant.
