Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 owners report unexplained screen cracks, raising concerns
Owners of Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphones are reporting screen cracks without any apparent cause.
Despite the advancement in foldable smartphone technology, the issue of durability remains a significant challenge. It is widely known that thin foldable OLED displays are prone to damage.
In response, Samsung offers a one-year warranty in countries where it is not legally required. However, recent reports from customers suggest that some Galaxy Z Fold 3 screens are failing just outside of the warranty period, worsening the situation.
Galaxy Z Fold3 displays fail just after the warranty period ends as users complain
Phone Arena was the first to report on a concerning issue with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3, as a reader sent an email about a cracked screen without any apparent cause. Several Reddit users have also reported experiencing the same problem and have shared images as evidence of the screen's flaws.
Users have reported that the affected devices had varying durations of use, with some being used for as little as three months and others for up to a year without any issues.
These users have reached out to Samsung about the broken screens, and Samsung has allegedly quoted a price of $700-800 to repair the displays, which is nearly 70% of the original cost of the phone.
It is important to mention that the reported screen damages are only allegations as it is not clear if the users did anything to cause the damage.
