Samsung has just unveiled its latest foldable device, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. This next-generation vertical folding clamshell phone follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but with significant enhancements. Notably, its introduction heats up the market competition, rivaling devices such as the Motorola Razr Ultra, OPPO Find N2 Flip, and Vivo X Flip.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a 6.7-inch internal AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The standout feature is its 3.4-inch secondary sAMOLED display, aptly named Flex Window by Samsung, located on the back panel. This secondary display offers 1,600 nits peak brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate. It has a unique folder-shaped icon design, providing users with the convenience of replying to texts, viewing notifications, controlling music playback, accessing Samsung Wallet and quick settings without the need to open the main display.

Samsung has embedded a side-mounted fingerprint scanner within the power button on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The brand has also integrated a new hinge mechanism, boasting a dual rail structure that helps diffuse external impacts. Moreover, the phone can fold flat without any gaps, preventing the accumulation of dust and water. Its IPX8 certification confirms dust and water resistance, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 provides further protection.
