Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition failed in a real-world fast charging test, results disappointing
The Redmi Note 12 family, which was introduced last week, brought new models to the smartphone market. However, Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition failed to meet advertised 210W fast charging in a real-world test.
Redmi introduced the Note 12 smartphone series last week. The new series included the vanilla Note 12 / Note 12 5G, Note 12 Pro, Note 12 Discovery Edition, and the Note 12 Pro Plus. The Note 12 Discovery Edition has the most impressive fast charging out of all devices in the series by supporting 210W rate and it packs a 4,300mAh battery. However, an independent testing shows that Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition failed to meet 210W fast charging. Here are all details about the issue.
Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition is actually charging at '184W' not '210W'
As it was advertised, Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition is claimed to be able to reach 100% charge in 9 minutes, with 4,300mAh battery and 210W fast charging technology. Later on, this model has been tested whether if it really supports 210W fast charging. A technology platform called Charger Labs has tested the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition by advanced graphics.
According to an independent test by Charger Labs, Redmi's advertisement about 210W charging is not true for Discovery Edition. The Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition reaches the peak point at 184.85W charging rate about three minutes after this test is started.
It also does not charge at 184.85W for very long time as it drops to lower wattages. The Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition typically charges around or above 120W according to this test.
According to Charger Labs, this smartphone can go from 0% to 100% charge in 10 minutes and 10 seconds. Xiaomi's claim is 9 minutes at the moment. As it is obvious, Redmi Note 12 failed to meet the advertised charging technology.
