Redmi K70 to come with features similar to K70 Pro

Redmi's new K70 series, nearly identical in features to its Pro model, will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, promising to impress users with its performance.

Tomorrow, Redmi is set to announce its highly anticipated Redmi K70 series of smartphones in China, along with a range of other devices, including the Redmi Book 14 / 16 (2024) laptop, the Redmi Watch 4, and the Redmi Buds 5 Pro TWS earbuds. The Redmi K70e has been the subject of much speculation with details revealed in recent reports, while the company has been gradually confirming key features of the Pro model. However, until recently, there was a silence around the standard K70 model, which has now been broken with the release of several revealing posters.

The newly released posters confirm that the Redmi K70 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. In contrast, the K70 Pro model is set to feature the more advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Further, the company has revealed that the Redmi K70 boasts an OLED display capable of 2K resolution, a metallic middle frame, and a 50-megapixel OmniVision Light Hunter 800 camera. This camera, carrying the OVX8000 model number, is reported to be a modified version of the OV50e camera sensor.

Interestingly, leaks suggest that the Redmi K70 and the K70 Pro share many similarities in their specifications. Both models are expected to feature the TCL C8 OLED display panel, similar battery sizes, and equivalent charging capabilities, likely including a 5,120mAh battery supported by 120W fast charging.

The primary differences between the two models are believed to be in the chipset and camera configurations. The K70 Pro is anticipated to include a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, a feature missing in the standard K70. Speculations suggest that the Redmi K70 will have a triple camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. In contrast, the Pro variant is expected to house an additional 50-megapixel telephoto lens alongside the 50-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
