Qualcomm has released its latest chipset, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor, which replaces the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 from the previous year. This new chipset is designed for mid-range premium smartphones and is expected to offer significant improvements compared to its predecessor. As unveiled by Snapdragon, the newly released Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor is manufactured on TSMC's 4nm process technology and features a CPU configuration that includes a primary Cortex X2 core clocked at 2.91GHz, three Cortex A710 performance CPUs running at 2.49GHz, and four energy-efficient Cortex A510 cores at 1.80GHz.
According to Qualcomm, this configuration delivers a 50% improvement in performance compared to its predecessor. The Adreno GPU is not named but is reported to offer a 2x increase in performance, and power efficiency has improved by 13% in various scenarios.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor also includes an integrated X62 5G modem-RF system, supporting 4G/5G Dual SIM Dual Active, as well as WiFi-6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The chipset supports up to QHD+ resolution at 120Hz and various HDR formats such as Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10+.
It features an 18-bit triple ISP that can support a 200-megapixel sensor and HDR video capture from two cameras simultaneously. Additionally, Snapdragon Elite gaming features such as auto-variable refresh rate shading, volumetric rendering, and Snapdragon Sound with Qualcomm aptX for lossless music streaming are included.

Qualcomm has announced that Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2-powered smartphones will be launched this month. Redmi and Realme have confirmed (via 91mobiles) that they will release two smartphones, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Realme GT Neo 5 SE, respectively, with the latest chipset. Both devices are set to launch in China later this month.
