Even though Google continues to work on the Pixel 8 series, the emerging news about Pixel 9 already started to thrill smartphone users.

Google is actively developing the Tensor G4 chip, the next-generation technology slated for the Pixel 9 series smartphones, anticipated for a 2024 release. The collaboration between Google and Samsung’s System LSI department brings the Tensor G4 chip, also known as Zuma Pro, to life. Built on the foundation of Samsung’s Exynos 2400, it aims to outperform its predecessor, the nine-core Tensor G3 chip, even if the improvements are subtle.

The creation of the Tensor G3, named Zuma, also has Samsung's touch, as it's influenced by the yet-to-be-released Exynos 2300 chip. Notably, during their respective development stages, the G3 was assessed on the “Ripcurrent” board, while the G4 adopted the “Ripcurrent Pro” board.

By 2025, Google envisions launching the Pixel 10 smartphone, which will be powered by the custom-designed Tensor G5 chip. This advancement signifies a pivotal moment in Google's chip manufacturing strategy. Instead of continuing their collaboration with Samsung, they intend to shift to TSMC for the Tensor G5's production, emphasizing Google's commitment to creating bespoke chips for their upcoming devices.

Looking back, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones, equipped with the Tensor G3 chip, are scheduled for an October 4, 2023 release. Both these models promise sophisticated designs coupled with enhanced camera features. The Pixel 8 Pro is set to offer a 64MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. In contrast, the Pixel 8 will present users with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
