Pixel 8 Pro outperformed iPhone 15 Pro Max in drop and scratch tests
Google's recently popularized Pixel 8 surpassed its biggest competitor.
Earlier this month, Google unveiled its premium flagship, the Pixel 8 Pro. This model flaunts camera enhancements and is powered by the innovative Tensor G3 chip. Moreover, Google ensures users of 7 years of software support. But the burning question remains: can the phone withstand 7 years of regular wear and tear? A recent durability test might shed some light on this.
PBKreviews took it upon themselves to rigorously test the Pixel 8 Pro's endurance. The trial commenced with the phone being dropped from waist level, screen first onto concrete. Remarkably, the Pixel 8 Pro's Gorilla Glass Victus 2 shielded the device, showing no evident harm.

Pushing the limits, the phone was then dropped from the height of a person's head. Despite the cringe-worthy sound it produced, the device emerged nearly unscathed, both on the front and back. Similarly, when the test was repeated with the phone's back hitting the ground first, it again proved its resilience, displaying no significant wear.
In a unique abrasion test, PBKreviews exposed the Pixel 8 Pro to a concoction of sand and gravel. Surprisingly, the phone withstood this rough treatment and remained largely unblemished. It's worth noting that in similar tests, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max exhibited more pronounced damage.
Perhaps most commendable was the Pixel 8 Pro's ability to endure direct screen impacts from varying heights. Many phones typically succumb to concrete drops, often manifesting as shattered screens. Yet, the Pixel 8 Pro held its own, even when dropped from head height, a feat few, like the Mate 60 Pro with its Kunlun glass, have achieved.
Concluding their assessment, PBKreviews declared that the Pixel 8 Pro boasted superior durability when juxtaposed with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, it did fall short in comparison to the resilience exhibited by the 14 Pro Max.
