Google's latest Pixel 8 series smartphones have introduced an array of novel camera features. However, it's intriguing that some of these advanced features, such as manual focus, shutter speed adjustments, and ISO controls, are claimed by Google to be exclusively available for the Pro model.
Yet, a revelation from the renowned tipster, Kamila Wojciechowska, has stirred the tech community. She claimed to have successfully operated the exclusive Pixel 8 Pro camera features on her Pixel 7 Pro device by modifying the Google Camera APK from the Pixel 8. Through her updates on social media platforms, she demonstrated the functionality of these features on her device, asserting that they operate seamlessly on any Tensor Pixel model, ranging from the 6 to the 7 Pro. Essentially, with the tweaked Google Camera APK, even older Pixel models could potentially harness these advanced features.

Among the capabilities Wojciechowska managed to utilize on her Pixel 7 Pro were manual focus enhanced with focus peaking, lens switching, and modifications in shutter speed and ISO. Focus peaking, a new introduction by Google, employs highlighted outlines to showcase the focused areas before capturing a shot. However, Wojciechowska observed a slight discrepancy. While the Pixel 8 Pro permits shutter speeds up to 16 seconds without invoking the Night Sight feature, her Pixel 7 Pro could only achieve half of that, although the user interface displayed the full 16 seconds. Users also have the flexibility to adjust either the shutter speed or ISO manually, while the other parameter can be set to auto mode.
Modifying the Google Camera isn't novel among Android aficionados. Google's camera application is often the favored choice due to its superior software attributes and post-capture processing techniques. Hence, it's plausible that we might soon observe Pixel 8 Pro's exclusive camera capabilities integrated into devices from other manufacturers like Samsung or Xiaomi.
In addition to these revelations, Google has unveiled an assortment of innovative camera features slated for both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, encompassing Zoom Enhance, an advanced Magic Eraser, Audio Magic Eraser, and Best Take, which are anticipated to be available from October 12.
