Google's Hardware Event this fall is set to unveil the new Pixel, surrounded by speculation of significant hardware enhancements and the inclusion of exciting software features. Android Authority's report indicates that Google is orchestrating a shift in the camera controls, relocating them to the lower segment of the app's UI. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the accessibility and user-friendliness of in-app features.
Prominent among the changes is the repositioning of the settings button, now nestled in the bottom-left corner and also accessible through a swipe-up gesture. While the Settings Panel remains consistent, the black bar now accommodates additional modes and features, facilitating convenient one-handed usage. Users can seamlessly toggle between Video and Photo modes from the bottom bar adjacent to the Settings icon.
Screenshots of the revamped Camera app unveil a fresh UI housing an array of modes, encompassing Action Pan, Portrait, Long Exposure, Photo, Night Sight, and Panorama. The Video Mode introduces slight variations, including Pan, Blue, Video, Slow Motion, and Time Lapse.
A subtle alteration is evident in the placement of the camera switch button, now situated on the right side, while the last shot preview occupies the left side. Above the shutter button, the zoom switcher finds its place. However, certain elements remain unchanged, preserving familiarity.
While the Long Exposure and Action Pan features aren't entirely novel, having been part of the Motion tab, they are now bestowed with separate tabs. Notably, the "Cinematic Pan" stabilization mode has been succinctly rebranded as "Pan," aligning with its essence.
The Pixel 8 Series is poised to usher in an era of refined photography experiences, harmonizing advanced hardware enhancements with a thoughtfully redesigned UI for the Google Camera app.
