Cooling is essential for smartphones as excessive heat can cause various issues, such as reduced performance, shorter battery life, and even damage to internal components. To rival with standards of smartphone cooling systems, China-based smartphone maker OnePlus introduced Active CryoFlux technology in the OnePlus 11 Concept. So, how does this feature work?

Meet with Active CryoFlux in the OnePlus 11

To recall, OnePlus has introduced the OnePlus 11, its latest flagship smartphone for 2023. The device boasts impressive specifications and features. Following this, the company has now unveiled the OnePlus 11 Concept at MWC 2023, which comes with an innovative Active CryoFlux feature. This feature is being hailed as a game-changer in cooling technology for mobile devices.

According to official information, the Active CryoFlux feature on the OnePlus 11 Concept can lower the device's temperature by up to 35.78°F (2.1℃), which can lead to better gaming performance with an increase in frame rate of around 3 to 4 fps.  Additionally, the feature can reduce charging temperatures by approximately 34.88°F (1.6℃) and shorten the charging time by 30 to 45 seconds.

In essence, the OnePlus 11 Concept, equipped with this cutting-edge feature, demonstrates the brand's dedication to pushing technology limits by bringing industry-grade cooling capabilities of gaming PCs to smartphones.

How does Active CryoFlux tech work?

The innovative Active CryoFlux technology of the OnePlus 11 Concept features industrial grade ceramic piezoelectric micropumps positioned at the center and connected to pipelines between the upper and lower halves of the phone.

Despite the compact size of the micropumps, covering an area less than 0.03 square inch (0.2 square cm), they do not significantly increase the weight of the device. The futuristic appearance of the OnePlus 11 Concept also showcases a glass unibody with deep curves that provide for thinner bezels and a side pull-up height of only 0.19 inch (5.04mm)

In addition to its impressive cooling capabilities, the design also provides a glimpse of the micro liquid flowing through the pipelines, creating a unique aesthetic that blends into the camera lens. The active CryoFlux technology's cooling liquid flows around the camera in a halo-like manner, and the module is surrounded by Guilloché etching, which is a precision decorative technique for engraving intricate patterns found in traditional watch craftsmanship.
