This strategy is reminiscent of the previous year's launch in India, where the OnePlus 11R and the standard OnePlus 11 were introduced together. It's speculated that the OnePlus Ace 3 could be rebranded as the 12R for certain markets.
As for the expected specifications of the OnePlus 12, the phone is likely to boast a 6.82-inch BOE X1 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution. This feature places it in line with the likes of the iQOO 12 series and the Xiaomi 14 series, which also incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
The camera setup is rumored to include a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 48-megapixel IMX581 ultra-wide lens. The front of the phone is anticipated to house a 32-megapixel camera for selfies. OnePlus has highlighted the HyperTone camera optimizations and the LYT-T808 primary camera sensor as key features of its rear camera arrangement.
The highest configuration model of the new OP 12 is expected to offer 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage and 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM. The phone may include a 5,400mAh battery, supporting 50W wireless and 100W wired charging, and is likely to run on Android 14 based on ColorOS 14.
