Nokia's new smartphone could be one of the most durable phones in the world
Nokia, which we are more accustomed to seeing with entry and mid-segment models in the smartphone world, will introduce us to a completely different device this time.
In search of a smartphone that can withstand a rough handling while still performing efficiently? If your answer is affirmative, the Nokia XR21 might just be what you need. This robust device was first introduced in the UK last month and has now made its debut in the US. It boasts a solid build with an IP69K rating, display protection by Gorilla Glass Victus, and MIL-STD-810H certification. Let's dive deeper into its features.
HMD Global's latest addition to the rugged smartphone family is the Nokia XR21, and they dub it as 'indestructible.' While this is quite an assertive declaration, the phone does exhibit features to back this claim. It comes equipped with MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability and carries an IP68 waterproof rating. In addition to this, it also holds an IP69K certification, guaranteeing resistance against dust, water, and accidental falls. The device sports a 6.49-inch LCD display shielded with Gorilla Glass Victus.

The display offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 550 nits, and compatibility with both wet hands and gloves. The phone also incorporates a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and two programmable buttons. Built with a fully recycled aluminum chassis and tough materials, this smartphone is constructed for durability.
With regard to its camera setup, the Nokia XR21 features a dual rear camera array with a 64MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens along with an LED flash unit. For selfies, there's a 16MP front camera. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 695 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone draws its power from a 4,800mAh battery, supporting 33W fast charging, and runs on Android 12 OS right out of the box. It also comes with a commitment to three years of OS and four years of security updates.
Further specifications include extra-loud stereo speakers, a 3.5mm jack, a USB-C port, NavIC, 5G, WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.1. The Nokia XR21 will be available on the Nokia US website in Midnight Black color variant, priced at $500. As a launch bonus, Nokia is offering a free pair of noise-canceling earbuds.
