New information is available for the Pixel 8 series: Camera details are now known
The Pixel 8 series, which is Google's new flagship candidate, has fully revealed itself. Here are the most recent details about the Pixel 8 series.
While the launch of Google's Pixel 8 series is not on the immediate horizon, information about the forthcoming devices is already surfacing rapidly. One major highlight is the Pixel 8 Pro, expected to be a substantial improvement over its predecessor with features like a temperature sensor, a sophisticated processor, and a sleek design. The device is also expected to sport new camera sensors, a latest report suggests, including a new ISOCELL GN2 primary sensor and a 64MP telephoto. The standard model is also set to feature the new primary sensor but seems to lack the ultrawide lens.
In an article for Android Authority, developer Kamila Wojciechowska suggests that the Pixel 8 series is in line for a significant camera upgrade. The report notes that both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will employ Samsung's ISOCELL GN2 as their main camera sensor, a noteworthy enhancement from the previous GN1 sensor.

The introduction of the new primary sensor could result in approximately 35% more light capture compared to the older version, potentially allowing for brighter low-light images and quicker shutter speeds, which could in turn reduce motion blur. The updated sensor also supports 8K/30fps video capture.
In addition, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to be equipped with a "more usable" ultrawide sensor. While the Pixel 7 Pro uses the older 12MP Sony IMX386 on its ultrawide, the upcoming flagship is believed to boast a new 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor, promising a larger size and improved ultrawide shooting capabilities. However, the standard Pixel 8 is likely to retain the same Sony IMX386, though with a better zoom ratio of 0.55x, as compared to the Pixel 7's 0.67x zoom ratio.
