Motorola's long-awaited new foldable smartphone, the Razr 40 Ultra, has finally seen the light of day.
Motorola has unveiled two novel foldable phones in the Chinese market, namely the Razr 40 and the more high-end Razr 40 Ultra. These devices, each unique in their specifications, have considerably expanded Motorola's range. The Razr 40 Ultra, in particular, positions itself against formidable contenders like Vivo X Flip, OPPO Find N2 Flip, and others. Let's delve into the details of this model.
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra boasts a 6.79-inch pOLED display, complete with a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout. It provides an FHD+ resolution, a rapid 165Hz refresh rate, an impressive 1,400 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+ support. A significant addition to the clamshell foldable phone trend, the Razr 40 Ultra features a large secondary screen on its rear. This 3.6-inch display extends towards the camera sensors and an LED flash unit. This secondary screen, the first of its kind in the clamshell foldable phone sector, utilizes a pOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 7.
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra provides multiple usage modes, such as the "tent" mode and various angle options. Regarding the camera specifications, it has a dual rear camera system consisting of a 12MP main sensor with OIS, coupled with a 13MP ultra-wide and macro lens. It also includes a 32MP front-facing camera for capturing high-quality selfies. As for audio capabilities, the foldable phone sports dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Beneath its surface, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and can be configured with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB in-built storage. The device runs on a 3,800mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging and comes with Android 13, supplemented by Motorola's Ready For feature.
The Razr 40 Ultra also incorporates a side-mounted fingerprint scanner within the power button and possesses an IP52 splash-resistance rating. Connectivity features include 5G, WiFi-6E, Bluetooth 5.3, a USB-C port, and NFC.
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, available in Viva Magenta, Glacier Blue, and Infinite Black, starts at RMB 5,699 ($801) for the 8GB + 256GB variant, while the 12GB + 512GB model is priced at RMB 6,399 ($899).
