It seems the Chinese company is taking a step back in battery size!
Contrary to its trend of introducing larger battery sizes with every new model, the Chinese company seems to be taking a step back this time.
In 2022, the iQOO 10 Pro made headlines as the first smartphone worldwide to support 200W fast charging. Its successor, the iQOO 11 Pro, maintained this impressive charging capability. However, recent insights suggest that the forthcoming iQOO 12 Pro might take a step back, offering a 120W fast charging feature — still commendably fast but not on par with its predecessors' 200W speed. Rumors hint that both Vivo and its sub-brand iQOO might be shifting their focus away from the 200W fast charging, aiming instead to enhance battery capacity.
According to insights shared by the informant Digital Chat Station, Vivo seems to be sidelining its 200W fast charging initiative. The new direction for the company reportedly involves launching devices that support 120W or 100W fast charging paired with a hefty battery capacity, possibly around 6,000mAh. This strategy also encompasses the integration of specialized high-density batteries.

While some information has been circulating about the iQOO 12 and 12 Pro's battery size and charging capabilities, it's believed that the mentioned leak might relate to other upcoming devices from Vivo or iQOO, rather than the iQOO 12 series. Current speculation suggests the iQOO 12 might sport a 5,000mAh battery, with the 12 Pro being powered by a slightly larger 5,100mAh battery. It's anticipated that both devices will support 120W fast charging. However, 50W wireless charging might be exclusive to the 12 Pro. Additionally, both these models are touted to have a 144Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and a 50-megapixel triple rear camera setup. The much-anticipated iQOO 12 series is expected to be unveiled on November 7 in China.
