As TechtUSA reported before, Apple is set to replace its traditional Lightning port with a USB-C port on its upcoming smartphones, in order to comply with new regulatory changes in Europe. The iPhone 15 series is rumored to be the first to feature the new charging port. Today, leaked images have provided further evidence of this change, with a glimpse at the iPhone 15 Pro chassis featuring a USB-C port.
A tipster known as Unknownz21 shared the leaked image on Twitter, which offers a close-up of the bottom of the device, revealing a USB-C port, speaker holes, and two exposed screws. The overall layout appears similar to that of the iPhone 14 Pro, with the exception of the new USB-C port. According to the source, this change will involve replacing the E75 Lightning Controller with an E85 Port Controller.
The recently leaked image of the iPhone 15 Pro not only displays its USB-C port but also provides a glimpse of the phone's rumored titanium design. Several sources indicate that Apple intends to use titanium instead of stainless steel for the iPhone 15 Pro series, giving it a similar matte finish to that of the Apple Watch Ultra, rather than the current glossy stainless-steel look.
