iPhone 15 Pro models tipped to feature solid-state buttons
Popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple is preparing to take a bolder step for the upcoming iPhone series. According to Kuo, the new high-end iPhone series will feature solid-state haptic buttons instead of physical power and volume control buttons. The models expected to include this feature will be iPhone 15 Pro models.
The working principle of this feature, planned to be implemented in the iPhone 15 Pro to be released next year, will be similar to the Home button on the iPhone 7, 8, SE 2 and 3, where the keypress is simulated using the Taptic Engine vibration.
While these new buttons are only rumored for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max/Ultra, the regular iPhone 15 models are expected to retain the usual physical buttons. Apple will also increase the number of Taptic Engine motors on the device to give users the feeling of pressing physical buttons. The elimination of physical buttons will also increase the waterproof feature of smartphones.
