Google has recently taken the wraps off its latest flagship, the Pixel 8 series, in a global release. While this news has technology enthusiasts buzzing, there is another development that's gaining traction. Google is anticipated to unveil the more budget-friendly iteration of the Pixel 8, dubbed the Pixel 8a. This new entrant is projected to debut next year as the successor to the widely acclaimed Pixel 7a during the tech giant's revered annual I/O Developer conference. In a rather exciting prelude to the launch, leaked renders of the Pixel 8a have surfaced, providing eager onlookers with a sneak peek at what's to come.

When analyzing the leaked images of the Pixel 8a, several design nuances become evident. The smartphone showcases more pronounced rounded corners compared to its Pixel 8 counterparts. Its overall build appears taller, with a slimmer width relative to the Pixel 7a. The rear of the device remains consistent with previous designs, featuring a horizontal alignment of a dual-camera setup within a pill-shaped module. The slimness of the device's profile is accentuated by a fresh Peach color palette.
Turning our attention to the front, the Pixel 8a comes with a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout. A somewhat pronounced bottom bezel is also evident. Reports suggest that the display is slated to measure around 6.1 inches. As for the device's physical dimensions, it is believed to stand at 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm. Hardware placements include a volume and power button on its right edge, while the left side houses a SIM card slot. A USB-C port and stereo speakers find their place at the device's base, and an ultrawide-band antenna accompanied by an earpiece is situated atop.
In a related development from August, a Google phone with the codename 'Akita' made an appearance on the Geekbench platform. Speculation ran high, suggesting this could indeed be the Pixel 8a. The listed specifications hinted at an underclocked Tensor G3 SoC, coupled with 8GB RAM and a pre-installed Android 14 OS.
