5G is a hot topic now and Chinese tech giant Huawei has rolled up their sleeves to offer a 5G connectivity smartphone. Huawei was placed on the entity list by the US Department of Commerce in May 2019, the company has been subject to US government sanctions for more than four years. Although they have suffered and lost some profit because of these restrictions they still managed to have a solid ground.
Huawei is especially successful with their smartwatches but now they also rolled up their sleeves for a smartphone with 5G connectivity. Reuters asserts that Huawei may finally return to employing 5G chipsets developed in collaboration with China's Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation.

SMIC's N+1 manufacturing process and Huawei's electronic design automation (EDA) software tools are being used in the development of 5G chipsets. Upcoming 5G chipsets from Huawei are anticipated to yield less than 50%. Additionally, the forecasts call for between 2 and 4 million and possibly 10 million 5G chipset units. It is anticipated that the first Huawei phone to feature the newly developed 5G chipset will be available later this year.
