Honor Magic V2 set sales records in China
The Magic V2 model, developed by Chinese tech giant Honor, is breaking sales records in its own country.
Honor has significantly raised the standards in the foldable phone category with its latest release, the Magic V2. Billed as the lightest and thinnest foldable phone to date, the Magic V2 has effectively signaled the end of the era for chunky foldable devices. Even though its global launch is still pending, the device has already made a huge splash in the Chinese market, breaking sales records and currently ruling the roost in China's premium phone category, priced at over $550.
Today, Honor announced its new foldable smartphone, the Magic V2, setting a new sales record for the year 2023 in the over $550 phone category in China. This premium category includes contenders like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, and Oppo Find X6 Pro. According to Honor, the Magic V2's first-day sales increased by a staggering 655% compared to the same period for the Magic V.

Despite maintaining a sufficient inventory of the smartphone, Honor reports that consumer demand is exceeding the company's projections. Consumer enthusiasm is so high in China that customers are queuing at brick-and-mortar stores to purchase the Magic V2, a phenomenon reminiscent of the excitement that surrounded the first few iPhone models.
The Magic V2's popularity is not without cause. Its slim and light design is definitely a huge selling point. The device measures just 9.9mm when folded, but it opens up to a super-slim 4.7mm. Not just its thickness, but the phone's weight also stands out, weighing in at a mere 237g.
Beyond its form factor, the Magic V2 also delivers in terms of specs. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and sports a 120Hz AMOLED display on both outer and inner panels. Moreover, the Magic V2 features a sizeable 5,000mAh battery, which supports 66W charging.
