Here's everything we know about the Red Magic 9 Pro
What do we know about the eagerly awaited member of the gaming world's beloved Red Magic series, the Red Magic 9 Pro?
As November 23 draws near, the anticipation for the launch of the Red Magic 9 Pro is mounting. This new flagship gaming phone from Red Devil’s lineup is set to be one of the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a significant advancement in the gaming smartphone sector. Competing models like the Xiaomi 14 series and iQOO 12 series, also equipped with this chip, have already demonstrated impressive performance, scoring nearly 2 million points on AnTuTu. However, the Red Magic 9 Pro, with its gaming-centric design, is expected to surpass its counterparts in terms of sustained performance.
Recently, the brand unveiled the design and color options for the Red Magic 9 Pro. This iteration introduces a redesign with the camera setup shifted to the left side of the device and adopting a flat design, ensuring it doesn’t protrude. Additionally, the smartphone is surprisingly slim for a gaming phone, measuring just 8.9mm in thickness, a notable achievement given the typical bulkiness of gaming phones.
Here's everything we know about the Red Magic 9 Pro
The phone’s design is characterized by its flat look, including flat edges and buttons. A unique feature is the industry’s first custom RGB fan lighting effect, adding to the gaming aesthetic. Moreover, it introduces new RGB gaming shoulder keys for enhanced control during gameplay. The phone will be available in three colors: Deuterium Transparent Silver Wings, Deuterium Transparent Dark Night, and Dark Night Knight, with the first two options featuring a transparent back showcasing the internal components.
The front of the Red Magic 9 Pro is set to feature a full, flat screen without any cutouts, thanks to an under-display camera. The display, expected to be a 6.8-inch OLED screen, offers a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Powering this gaming powerhouse is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, coupled with up to 24GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. A key highlight is its advanced cooling system, a 10,182mm² vapor chamber, which reportedly reduces the chip’s heat generation by up to 25°C. This efficient cooling has enabled the phone to achieve an impressive 2,290,773 points on AnTuTu and maintain an average of 60 FPS at 720P resolution in demanding games like Genshin Impact, all while consuming less power compared to similar models.
Furthermore, the Red Magic 9 Pro will feature the Red Core R2 Pro, a self-developed gaming chip by Red Magic, enhancing aspects like haptic feedback, audio, and touch-sampling rate. The phone will also include the X Gravity 2.0 software for seamless integration of external devices like controllers or keyboards and mice. Lastly, the phone will launch with REDMAGIC OS 9.0, based on Android 14, promising a more refined and smoother user experience compared to its predecessor.
