Google Pixel 8 Pro got officially unveiled
American tech giant Google officially introduced its long-awaited flagship model, Pixel 8 Pro.
After much anticipation, Google unveiled the Pixel 8 Pro today during its Made by Google event. This launch saw the introduction of not only the Pixel 8 Pro but also its counterparts, the Pixel 8 and Pixel Watch 2. The Pixel 8 Pro comes equipped with several upgrades, most notably the advanced Tensor G3 chip. Additionally, an innovative feature is the inclusion of a thermometer on the rear of the device. Both the cameras and display have also received upgrades, enhancing the overall user experience.
The design of the Pixel 8 Pro sees a departure from the previous models. Google has opted for a more rounded aesthetic, moving away from the sharper edges characteristic of the Pixel 7 range. Another design change is evident in the camera sensor, which is now unified behind a single glass piece, a shift from the previous dual-glass setup.
Dimensions-wise, the Pixel 8 Pro stands at 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm with a weight of 213 grams. The device features a flat 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display, boasting a resolution of 3120x1440 pixels. The display also supports a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1-120Hz. Additionally, the display achieves a remarkable brightness of up to 2,400 nits and is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. In terms of durability, the smartphone comes with an IP68 waterproof rating.

Under the hood, the Pixel 8 Pro is powered by the new Tensor G3 chipset. This 4nm processor works in tandem with 12GB of RAM. Storage options vary by region, offering up to 1TB in the US and 512GB in other markets. The battery capacity has been enhanced to 5,050mAh. However, the device supports 30W wired charging and 23W wireless charging.
Google has made notable commitments regarding software support for the Pixel 8 Pro, guaranteeing five major OS updates and seven years of security patches. The smartphone also comes with a plethora of connectivity features including WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. For enhanced security, the device incorporates a Titan M2 chip and offers VPN services through Google One at no added expense.
The camera setup of the Pixel 8 Pro has been refined, featuring a 50MP primary lens, a 48MP ultrawide lens with improved autofocus, and a 48MP telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom. Selfie enthusiasts can make use of a 10.5MP rear camera.
In terms of pricing and availability, the Pixel 8 Pro is priced at $999 in the US and Rs. 93,999 in India. Pre-orders are open now, with an incentive of a complimentary Pixel Watch 2 for early birds. Color options for this model include Sky Blue, Porcelain, and Obsidian Black.
