Reportedly, Google plans to institute a process wherein Android manufacturers undergo a review and provide sample devices for assessment before being allowed to include Google Apps on their foldable phones. The proposed requirements include durability testing, with phones expected to endure at least 200,000 folds and unfolds. Additionally, devices featuring "torque hinges" must retain at least 80% of their original torque after the specified number of folds and unfolds, ensuring hinge integrity over time.

While Google emphasizes durability, the company also intends to mandate Android manufacturers to deliver two major OS updates and three years of security patches for foldable devices.
