The latest intriguing details about the Redmi 12 5G from Chinese tech company have now surfaced.
Redmi is gearing up to launch the Redmi 12 4G on August 1 in India, accompanied by the unveiling of the Xiaomi Smart TV X series and the Redmi Watch 3 Active. Unconfirmed details about the configurations and prices of the Redmi 12 have been shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav, who also mentioned the Redmi 12 5G's potential variants and prices for the Indian market. However, it remains unclear whether Redmi will announce the Redmi 12 5G alongside the previously mentioned products on the same day.
The tipster suggests that the Redmi 12 5G will come in two versions, with either 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage or 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and will start at a price of Rs 13,999. The Redmi 12 4G will be available in two configurations, either 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage or 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, starting at a price of Rs 9,999. The Redmi 12 4G, shown in the Moonlight Silver edition, was also featured in the leak.

Speculation suggests that the Redmi 12 5G could be a rebranded Redmi Note 12R from China. Meanwhile, the Redmi 12 4G's specifications are known as it has already been launched in several markets, including Thailand. Both phones are equipped with a 6.79-inch IPS LCD 90Hz display, offering an FHD+ resolution and a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, and are powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging.
Under the hood, the Redmi 12 5G will carry the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip and a camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. In contrast, the Redmi 12 4G will feature the Helio G88 chip and a triple camera system, with a 50-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. According to the leak, both devices will run on Android 13 OS with the MIUI 14 UI on top.
