Farewell for notch: iPhone 15 CAD renders confirm Dynamic Island and larger display
The recently leaked 3D CAD renders of the iPhone 15 showcase the Dynamic Island feature on the cheapest model, replacing the notch seen in previous iPhone models.
The iPhone 15 series was expected to include four models, each with a screen size of either 6.1 inches or 6.7 inches, similar to the iPhone 14 series. However, a recent leak indicates that the base model of the iPhone 15 series could have a slightly bigger screen than the previous model.
iPhone 15 will feature a larger display with Dynamic Island tech
Recently, renders of the Pro model of the upcoming iPhone 15 series have been released, based on leaked 3D CAD drawings. These renders showcase some of the design changes and features that Apple has planned for its new smartphone.
However, the newly leaked 3D CAD files of the iPhone 15 suggest that it will feature a Dynamic Island instead of the notch seen on previous iPhone models. This rumor had surfaced in September of last year, shortly after the launch of the iPhone 14 series.
DSCC Analyst Ross Young had also previously confirmed that Dynamic Island would be included in the entire iPhone 15 lineup. The latest leak reinforces these past reports, and confirms that Dynamic Island is a pill-shaped camera housing the front camera and Face ID sensors.
Based on the leaked 3D CAD files, it appears that the iPhone 15 will feature a slightly larger screen, measuring 6.2-inches, compared to the 6.06-inches found on the current iPhone 14. The renders also show that the iPhone 15 will replace the Lightning port with a USB-C port to comply with EU regulations.
Additionally, the images reveal that the iPhone 15 will have physical power and volume rocker buttons, suggesting that the rumored solid-state buttons will be reserved for the Pro models only.
