Don't expect big changes from Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera
The camera details of the Galaxy S24 Ultra model, expected to be the next flagship of South Korean tech giant Samsung, are gradually starting to emerge.
Samsung is set to make waves in the smartphone market once again, with the anticipated release of the Galaxy S24 series - the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24 Plus, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra - in the early part of 2024. Following the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the brand's pioneer device with a 200-megapixel camera and a novel selfie camera, expectations are high regarding what the S24 Ultra might bring to the table. Quoting Korean media sources, renowned informant Ice Universe has offered some insights into the Ultra model's rear camera specs.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra, according to the tipster, will continue to leverage a 200-megapixel Samsung HP2 primary camera. Complementing this will be a 12-megapixel Sony IMX564 ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel Sony IMX754 telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom. Interestingly, these are also the components forming the rear camera assembly of the preceding Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Adding to the intriguing camera setup of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is an enhanced version of the 10-megapixel IMX754+ periscope telephoto camera, boasting a 10x optical zoom. This addition represents the sole substantial hardware upgrade of the S24 Ultra. Nevertheless, the device's camera performance is expected to see significant enhancements, primarily driven by advancements in software and processing capabilities.
Along with these state-of-the-art cameras, an LED flash and laser autofocus unit will be incorporated into the rear camera setup. Information about the front-facing camera for the Galaxy S24 Ultra remains elusive. However, the 12-megapixel selfie camera, which made its debut on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, is likely to be carried over.
The Galaxy S24 series is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, set for launch by Qualcomm in October this year. An optimized variant of this chip, christened the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, could be the powerhouse behind the S24 lineup. While Asian and North American markets are expected to receive the Snapdragon-powered S24 lineup, European customers may see the launch of the Exynos 2400 variants.
