Renowned Wall Street analyst Dan Ives has suggested that Apple's forthcoming iPhone 15 series could come with a price increase, the first of its kind in the United States since 2017. Known for his astute predictions, Ives disseminated his insights in a note sourced by Barron’s, and elaborated further on his deductions during a CNBC interview.

Ives, whose prior successful prediction involved international price increases for the iPhone 14, posits that Apple might adopt a similar pricing strategy for the iPhone 15. Though he refrained from specifying US prices, his commentary on a potential increase in Average Selling Prices (ASPs) indicates a possible pricing revision for the new iPhone models, set to launch this coming September.

Analysts, including those from Forbes, anticipate that the proposed price increment will be particularly noticeable in the premium iPhone 15 Pro models, with the potential for an increase up to $200. For reference, the iPhone 14 series starts at $799 for the base model, $899 for the iPhone 14 Plus, $999 for the iPhone 14 Pro, and the 14 Pro Max is priced from $1,099.

Further, Ives praises Apple's strategic direction for its Services business segment, projecting a bullish outlook for the company. He anticipates Apple's valuation to surge from the present $2.85 trillion to a predicted range of $3.5 to $4 trillion within the next 18 to 24 months.

Highlighting a potential market opportunity, Ives noted that roughly 250 million iPhone units have not seen an upgrade in the past four years. If a substantial proportion of these users decide to upgrade their devices this year, it could yield significant revenue for Apple.

Ives predicts that Apple will ship between 235 million and 240 million iPhone 15 units in 2023. Even assuming an average price increase of $100, Ives' prediction could generate an additional revenue of $23.5 billion for Apple.

In summary, the prospects for Apple's iPhone 15 launch suggest a potential price modification and robust sales figures, presenting a mix of opportunities and hurdles for the tech behemoth in the fiercely competitive smartphone market.
