India has a significant place for smartphone market, therefore Apple might see the potential and move accordingly. According to The Financial Times, at least five employees from Mumbai and New Delhi have already been hired for the upcoming stores. Along with a number of other stores in the country, Apple is reportedly working on a 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot store in New Delhi. The opening date of these stores is unknown. In addition to bringing more production to India, Apple is expanding its retail presence there. In 2017, Apple started making iPhones in India, and after the iPhone 14 was released, the company moved production from China to India.
India may be becoming an increasingly appealing manufacturing hub as Apple seeks to distance itself from China for political reasons and cut costs in the midst of difficult economic conditions.
