Apple might introduce USB Type-C to both iPhone 15 and iPhone 14
With recent news focusing on the iPhone 15, Apple now faces claims of updating iPhone 14 models with USB Type-C.
The likelihood of the iPhone 15 series adopting USB-C ports, deviating from the traditional Lightning connectors, is increasing. Interestingly, a recent revelation hints that some models of the iPhone 14 might also be equipped with USB-C. This insight emerges from Apple developer @aaronp613, who, while examining the code for tvOS 17 beta 5, identified references to six iPhone models, two of which are unfamiliar. It's hypothesized that four of these pertain to the iPhone 15 range, leaving the identity of the other two a mystery.
However, they may not be a part of the forthcoming iPhone 15 series. Based on this, there's rising speculation that these could be variants of the iPhone 14. If this holds, Apple might retain a few iPhone 14 models and transition them to USB-C, ensuring uniformity and aligning with EU regulations.
Apple might introduce USB Type-C to both iPhone 15 and iPhone 14
Currently, devices like the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, and iPhone 12 are available on Apple's official site. This suggests that perhaps the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus might continue to be on sale post-September. Insights into the nomenclature of these yet-to-be-released models indicate they might utilize the Apple A15 Bionic chipset, typically found in the more affordable iPhone 14 iterations. In contrast, the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are powered by the A16 Bionic.
Another theory, based on the developer's observations, postulates that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, both of which employ the A15 Bionic, could be the ones transitioning to USB-C. Though these are just hypotheses for now, the forthcoming iPhone launch in September might bring some unexpected announcements.
