Apple has halted developing its own Wi-Fi chips; Broadcom is the biggest winner of the iPhone 15’s upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E and the leading beneficiary of the Wi-Fi industry-standard upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E/7 with higher ASP.https://t.co/XEZ0bVV8A8
According to Kuo, Apple decided instead to focus most of its resources on developing its next-generation A-series and M-series processors. This way, it can guarantee that the processors for its iPhone, iPad, and MacBook will be ready for production in the coming years. "Broadcom will be the biggest winner" in this situation, he said, since the iPhone 15 is anticipated to feature the new WiFi standard that allows access to the 6 GHz band. The analyst also explained that it is riskier for Apple to use its own WiFi chips at a time when businesses are switching their devices over to WiFi 6E.
