The Vivo V series has made a mark in the smartphone market, primarily due to its stellar design and powerful camera system. While the V series might not top the list of the best Vivo smartphones, which is a title often awarded to the X series, it has nevertheless amassed a considerable following among worldwide users. The Vivo V27 stands out with its refined aesthetics, and the forthcoming Vivo V29 is set to capitalize on this foundation.

Scheduled to be unveiled on October 4, the upcoming models, including the Vivo V29 and V29 Pro, promise enhanced hardware while retaining a design reminiscent of their predecessors. Both the Vivo V29 and the V29 Pro are anticipated to be eye-catching devices. An intriguing element of the Pro variant is its color-changing back panel—a feature that isn't entirely novel, having been observed in a few preceding models. The standard version, however, will not sport this feature. Both phones will embrace a dual-glass rear paired with a plastic frame, following the tradition set by the V27 and V25. The aim with these models is to deliver devices that are slim and light.

With edges that curve towards the longer sides, the phones exude a premium feel. The displays on both the Vivo V29 and V29 Pro will be 6.78-inch AMOLED, boasting 1B colors and a resolution of 1260x2800px. These screens are enhanced by a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a pixel density of 453ppi. The 10-bit panel further impresses with an 80,000,00:1 contrast ratio and brightness levels peaking at 1300 nits.

As for the internal specifications, the V29 Pro will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC coupled with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The standard model, on the other hand, opts for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC, a formidable 12GB RAM, which can be expanded to 20GB using Extended RAM, and 256GB storage. Both devices will run on the Funtouch OS based on Android 13.

Camera-wise, the smartphones will house a trio of lenses on the back. The V29 Pro features a 50MP Sony IMX766V main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 12MP 2x telephoto lens. In contrast, the regular V29 will have the same main and ultra-wide sensors but will swap the telephoto lens for a 2MP depth sensor. For the selfie enthusiasts, both phones will offer a 50MP front camera. Furthermore, the Pro model may be complemented with two LED flashlights flanking the front camera. Connectivity options for both devices should encompass dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC, and USB 2.0 (Type-C). Biometric security will be managed by an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and they will likely be powered by a 4,600mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging.

Despite being pegged as mid-range smartphones, the Vivo V29 and V29 Pro won't come cheap. In the Czech Republic, the Vivo V29 is priced at CZK 11,999 (around $526), but this might vary across regions. The V29 Pro might be introduced as the Vivo S17 Pro in some markets, with a starting price of $435 in China.
