A surprising move from Samsung!

South Korean tech giant Samsung unveiled an unexpected update for its flagship model, the Galaxy S10.

A surprising move from Samsung!

The Galaxy S10 made waves as Samsung's premier 5G phone in 2019. While it remained a mainstay in the market for four years, Samsung formally halted software updates for the device in June 2023. Unexpectedly, the Galaxy S10, along with its counterparts - the Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ - recently received a fresh update. This unforeseen move resonates with the popular adage, reminiscent of the Vince Carter meme, suggesting there's "one more in the tank."

This new update is currently rolling out on the Telcel network in Mexico and brings with it the September 2023 patch, identifiable by its firmware version HWI1. Yet, whether Samsung will introduce this update in other global regions remains a point of speculation.

A surprising move from Samsung!

Given that the tech giant already concluded support for the Galaxy S10, S10e, and S10+, an expanded release appears doubtful. The update on Telcel might be a gesture of goodwill or possibly a response to a significant vulnerability.

Interestingly, while the Galaxy S10, S10e, and S10+ have ceased receiving updates, the Galaxy S10 Lite remains the exception. This device is projected to get updates until 2024, not due to any special affection from Samsung, but merely because it was launched a year subsequent to the initial Galaxy S10 series.
