Xiaomi introduces its new smart steam cooker
The world's most prolific tech company, Xiaomi, now presents us with a steam cooking device.
Xiaomi is set to initiate a crowdfunding campaign for the MIJIA smart electric steamer 12L on September 27. This cutting-edge kitchen gadget boasts a substantial power capacity of 1500W, combined with the accuracy of NTC precise temperature control. With this capability, it promises high-speed steaming, ensuring not just rapid cooking but also the retention of vital nutrients by providing the option to simmer.
The MIJIA smart electric steamer 12L has been meticulously designed with a double-layer structure, ensuring a spacious capacity of 12 liters. This design allows the device to accommodate large food items, such as a whole chicken or up to eight corn cobs simultaneously. A significant feature is its 2-liter water tank, which not only holds ample water for extended cooking sessions but also provides visibility to the remaining water volume. Users can conveniently replenish the water without needing to lift the lid, thanks to a side opening.
Furthermore, Xiaomi has incorporated a unique drip tray design into the steamer. This feature minimizes the evaporation of residual water during the cooking process, preventing the buildup of unwanted odors. Additionally, this design makes cleaning, especially the removal of soup residue, a breeze.

On the tech side, the MIJIA smart electric steamer 12L can be seamlessly controlled via the MIJIA app. Features on offer include a 24-hour reservation system and 8-hour automatic heat preservation. For user safety and convenience, the device is outfitted with an intelligent display knob and is backed by water shortage and temperature control sensors. This ensures users receive timely alerts, preventing food from dry burning.
The price for the Xiaomi MIJIA smart electric steamer 12L has been set at 269 yuan (approximately $37). Details regarding the crowdfunding target, duration, and global availability for the product are yet to be disclosed by Xiaomi.
