Xiaomi introduced the Smart Display 8 Pro
The new Smart Display model developed by Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is officially out. So, what features does this device promise to its users?
Xiaomi, a renowned Chinese tech manufacturer, has recently taken the wraps off its Xiaomi Smart Display 8 Pro in China. This device is the latest in the line, following the Smart Display 10 and the Smart Display 6, which were introduced in April and July of the previous year, respectively.
The Xiaomi Smart Display 8 Pro showcases an 8-inch LCD screen and is designed for local use with a central gateway. Notably, it operates on MIUI Home OS, allowing users to manage a variety of other smart home devices. Beyond its home automation functionalities, it can double as a music and video streaming device. One of its striking features is the robust 7500mAh battery, ensuring extended usage times without frequent recharging.

While Xiaomi remains tight-lipped about the full spectrum of hardware details, the device is anticipated to inherit several features from its predecessors. Among these are capabilities like cross-device video calls, connectivity between mobile phones, TVs, and home screens, and even remote home surveillance. A unique feature worth noting is its built-in infrared remote control, which can rapidly upgrade traditional appliances into smart ones. Moreover, considering the "Pro" in its name, more advanced features are expected to be part of the package.
In terms of availability, the Smart Display 8 Pro is slated for a pre-sale on August 8. Xiaomi has not yet declared the device's official pricing, but market experts anticipate a price range somewhere between the Smart Display 10, which costs 999 yuan ($139), and the Smart Display 6, priced at 349 yuan ($48).
