The roadmap for Apple's AirPods has come to light
The schedule laid out by Apple for its popular product, the AirPods, has been disclosed by a famous insider.
Apple is set to introduce notable alterations to its renowned AirPods lineup. Credible sources like Mark Gurman from Bloomberg suggest that 2024 will witness enhancements for the standard AirPods and the AirPods Max, while the AirPods Pro is slated for updates in 2025.
In alignment with these upgrades, Apple is strategizing to discontinue the 2nd and 3rd-generation standard AirPods. Instead, they plan to launch the upcoming 4th-generation AirPods at two distinct price points.
The 4th-generation AirPods are rumored to amalgamate features from both their predecessors and the Pro variant. These might showcase shorter earphone stems, and the premium version is expected to include active noise cancellation, akin to what the AirPods Pro and Max offer. Moreover, users can anticipate an enhanced fit for increased comfort. Though, there's still ambiguity regarding potential upgrades to the charging case, including possible integrations like speakers or a USB-C port.

The AirPods Max, on the other hand, isn't only limited to functional modifications. A broader spectrum of color options is foreseen, and the inclusion of a USB-C interface is in discussions.
The next iteration of the AirPods Pro is speculated to flaunt a redesigned exterior and more efficient internal components. A standout feature could be the “hearing health” capabilities. This suggests the possibility of the AirPods accumulating hearing data, paving their way as potential alternatives to conventional hearing aids under specific circumstances. Notably, the recent 2nd generation AirPods Pro received a USB-C update, which is expected to be retained in the upcoming model.
Further amplifying the buzz is Apple's recent patent filings. These indicate that future AirPods might be equipped to read biosignals, such as brainwaves via in-ear electrodes, and possess dynamic environment adaptation capabilities.
Lastly, in a strategic business move, Apple intends to commence the manufacturing of AirPods in India. This decision aligns with their existing production of iPhones in the region. The revamped AirPod models are anticipated to debut alongside the new iPhone releases in the coming year.
