The next-generation Apple Pencil, which has been the subject of numerous rumors for a long time, has finally been officially unveiled.

The Apple Pencil has been announced: But can it meet the expectations?

Apple recently unveiled its third-generation Apple Pencil, which comes across as a more affordable alternative when compared to its second-generation counterpart. But here's the twist: It's essentially a downgraded version, missing several features that were present in the earlier model. While it serves the purpose for basic activities like note-taking and journaling, it doesn't quite hit the mark for creative professionals. The new pencil neatly fits right between the features offered by its first and second-generation predecessors.

This Apple Pencil maintains the design lineage of its predecessors, showcasing a matte finish coupled with a flat side. This design allows for it to magnetically cling to the side of the iPad. One significant change is the absence of wireless charging. Instead, Apple has incorporated a mechanism where the pencil goes into a sleep state to prolong its battery life. The dimensions of this stylus are 7.5 x 155mm, and it weighs a mere 20.5 grams.

Functionality-wise, this pencil impresses with pixel-perfect accuracy, minimal latency, and tilt sensitivity. It's also equipped with the hover feature, especially tailored for the iPad Pro models. On the flip side, this latest iteration lacks several features that the second-generation pencil boasted, such as pressure sensitivity, wireless charging and pairing, and the nifty double-tap feature.

A noteworthy addition is the sliding cap that, when removed, reveals a USB-C port. This is the designated method for charging this device. Moreover, this pencil is compatible with various USB-C supported iPads. These encompass the third to sixth-generation iPad Pro 12.9, first to fourth-generation iPad Pro 11, fourth and fifth-generation iPad Air, tenth-generation iPad, and the sixth-generation iPad Mini.

For those interested in owning this stylus, the Apple Pencil with USB-C comes with a price tag of $79 ($69 for educational purchases), €95, and Rs 7,900. Apple has announced its availability starting early November.
